IREGC Founder John Gilliland Releases Autobiography ‘Farm Boy in the Fast Lane’

Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC) founder and CEO John Gilliland has released “Farm Boy in the Fast Lane,” an autobiography chronicling his journey from selling sweet corn at a roadside stand in rural Pennsylvania to building one of the nation’s leading self storage companies.

Released in August, “Farm Boy in the Fast Lane”tells the story of Gilliland’s upbringing in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania, his early entrepreneurial ventures and the calculated risks, failures, opportunities and relationships that ultimately led him to build the Investment Real Estate Group of Companies.

“This book is about much more than building a successful business,” Gilliland said. “It’s about the people, experiences and lessons that shaped my life along the way. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors, trusted partners, loyal clients, dedicated employees, supportive family members and lasting friendships. Success is rarely the result of one person.”

Gilliland founded IREGC in 1998 after brokering his first self storage facility the previous year. Since then, the York-based company has grown into a national leader in the self storage industry, developing, building, acquiring and operating more than 100 facilities under the Moove In Self Storage brand across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest.

In “Farm Boy in the Fast Lane,” Gilliland shares stories from both his personal and professional life while exploring lessons learned about entrepreneurship, leadership, resilience, integrity, hard work and the importance of relationships.

“My hope is that people will see some of themselves in these stories,” Gilliland said. “Maybe it encourages an entrepreneur to think a little bigger, gives a future business leader the confidence to pursue an opportunity or simply reminds someone that failure is part of the journey. You learn, you keep moving and you enjoy the ride.”

All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Self Storage Association Foundation Scholarship Fund and Pink Power, a 501(c)(3) organization founded by Gilliland’s wife, Denise, that helps local breast cancer patients in need.

“Farm Boy in the Fast Lane” is available through FarmBoyFastLane.com, Amazon and local bookstores. Information about upcoming book signings, speaking engagements, media appearances and launch events is also available at FarmBoyFastLane.com.
