The Role: 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic performer to lead our human resources department. The Director of Human Resources will play a pivotal role in shaping our organizational culture, enhancing employee engagement, and driving talent management initiatives. This position requires a forward-thinking leader who can align HR strategies with our business goals while fostering an inclusive and high-performance work environment. This role will also ensure compliance throughout the corporate and field offices.

The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC) is composed of real estate-centric entities focused on the self-storage industry. In addition, we own and operate a portfolio of over 70 stores with a stated goal of reaching 100 stores by the end of 2025. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

Strategic Leadership:: 

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive organizational change and culture initiatives.

Talent Acquisition & Management:

  • Oversee recruitment efforts to attract top talent and ensure a robust talent pipeline.
  • Implement effective onboarding and retention strategies to enhance employee experience.

Employee Engagement & Development:

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development through training programs and career advancement opportunities.
  • Conduct employee engagement surveys and implement action plans based on feedback.

Performance Management:

  • Design and manage performance appraisal systems that promote accountability and reward high performance.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance-related issues and employee development.

Compliance & Policies:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, keeping the organization informed of any changes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Oversee compensation structures and benefit programs to ensure competitiveness and equity.
  • Analyze market trends to recommend improvements in total rewards offerings.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion:

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organization.
  • Develop programs that promote a diverse workplace and equitable opportunities for all employees.

Requirements

Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience in change management and organizational development is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Proficient in using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in talent acquisition, employee relations, and organizational development.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, use a computer, and present information to groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Be stationary for prolonged periods of time.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, reaching and repetitive motion may be required in completion of job duties.
  • Must be able to lift 10+ pounds.
  • Regular travel is required for this role.
