YORK, Pa. (July 10, 2023) — The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC) today announced its chief of staff, philanthropist Mary Beth Ching, will be joining the Appell Center board in July. The center’s mission is to inspire, educate and entertain through professional performing arts experiences that bring together York County’s diverse voices.
With an extensive background and longtime advocacy in LGBTQ+ affairs, Ms. Ching will serve on the board’s diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) committee. She previously helped to create, promote, coordinate and run Pride Night for the York Revolution from 2017-2019. Ms. Ching served on the board of The Black and White Party from 2007-2013, raising money to support HIV/AIDS-related organizations and causes in Central Pennsylvania.
“When Louis Appell Jr. revived the Strand and Capitol theatres, he brought our community together to enjoy the work of an incredibly talented and diverse collection of artists,” said Appell Center Chair Kira Wagner. “Mary Beth’s love for our community and the arts and her dedication toward helping others made her a perfect fit to help fulfill Mr. Appell’s vision. We look forward to having her spirit of service and energy on our board.”
Ms. Ching said, “As someone who deeply loves our community, I cannot think of a better way to serve than with the Appell Center. It’s a humbling honor. The center’s commitment to creating tremendous opportunities for artists and residents to come together to celebrate the arts is an inspiring vision and example of the great things we can do together.”
At IREGC, Ms. Ching works directly with leadership to move the company forward, maintain its culture and core values, and coordinate a variety of important team events. She also works with investors, vendors, financial institutions, partners, state boards and member associations both in our local community and nationwide.
Ms. Ching was born and raised in Rutland, Vermont, and initially came to the York area to further her education, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from York College. Today, she resides in York with her daughters.
